Aquarium
The all-new Crete Aquarium is open. Making use of part of the old US military base at Gouves (on the north coast ) near Heraklion - the new Aquarium is currently open daily - every day - from 10:30 until 17:30 hours. Admission is a lucky seven Euros.

Unique Islands by the area for daily cruises

Chrissi Island
Chrissi is located 8 miles southwards of Ierapetra. Every summer, from the midst of May until the end of September, small boats depart daily from the port of Ierapetra to go to the island.

In the Libyan sea you journey along with sea-gulls whereas it's rare (but still possible) to see dolphins around. After almost an hour trip the boats arrive to the south end of the island, which is usually less windy. The disembarkation is made on the ‘vougiou's eye' spot, where there is a small wharf and the reception.

The excursions on the island are a-day-long, so the visitors have plenty of time to tour on the paths of Chrissi, to dive in the blue-green sea and have lunch in the kiosk of the municipality of Ierapetra .

One of the most exotic gifts of the Cretan nature:

• A beach with white, thin sand (made of shells!). A wide sea with azure and shallow water filled with sand.
• There you can find the beach bar, where you can enjoy your coffee or drink, fruit, snacks and ice creams as well.
• This divine scenery you can enjoy it on one of our reclining chairs, under umbrellas right on the beach.

Koufonisi Island
This is a small scenic island in the Libyan Sea off the south-eastern coast of Crete, or more eχactly, south-east of the Goudouras promontory near Makrigialos. Together with the islets of Makroulo, Strongilo, Trachila and Marmara it forms a close group.

Spinalonga
A short boat trip from Elounda, this small islet is the site of one of the most important Venetian fortresses on Crete built in 1579 to protect the harbor

Vai Beach Palm forest
For those visiting the east of Crete a great attraction for sun worshipers has to be Vai beach near Palekastro.  Vai beach has been voted one of the best beaches in Crete, Greece and Europe. Vai beach is a mainly sandy beach with the palm trees that surround the beach offering welcoming shade from the intense Cretan sunshine and high temperatures. The beach itself is quite small, and the water is crystal clear and warm.
